The First Leviathans are Born

Life, Birth

25,000 BC

Several pockets in the ground served as wombs for some of the first lifeforms in the Nightlight Zone. These creatures were larger than could be fathomed, and the largest might've appeared similar to a serpent creature with two wings and an extremely thick hide. At first, these creatures drifted around aimlessly in their realm.

After some of the first environments formed in the Nightlight Zone, the ground became a host for enormous fluid-filled pockets, separate from the many cave systems inside the ground. Inside these pockets grew the first inhabitants of the Nightlight Zone, emerging nearly full-grown once incubated long enough.

Most of these creatures had serpent-like bodies, with only a few modifications. Some serpents had wings, antlers, or multiple heads. Other Leviathans were built like simple fish, or enormous heavy-set crustaceans. Cephalopod-like Leviathans were also becoming widespread, appearing like a mix of squid and octopus in appearance, and constantly battling each other. Most of the Leviathans were members of an entire species, except for the largest serpent that lived among them, which likely ruled over its brethren.

The specifics of how these creatures lived is largely unknown, but they lived long before the current inhabitants of the Nightlight Zone did, and were the only ones allowed to leave the Nightlight Zone.
