A Search Party Encounters a Watcher
Gathering / Conference
10,100 BC
One day, a group of Cave Stalkers, accompanied by a monarch, are on a long travel over a set of plains. Eventually, they find a Watcher that has come down to the seabed, who sees them and communicates through a form of telepathy. After realizing it's not a monster, the monarch begins answering the Watcher's questions about his species, before it returns to its brethren in the Abyss.
When the search party first found the Watcher, it was swimming around a large canyon next to them, just barely able to fit inside. It is believed that this particular Watcher attempted to get close to the Cave Stalkers without the supervision of the others, in order to interact with them for its own gain. At first, the search party did not know what to make of it, worried it was a supernatural monster that would eat them at first glance. However, the Watcher began speaking into their minds and proving it is not a threat.
The Watcher was then asking the monarch accompanying the party questions about the Cave Stalker civilization, though the specifics of this interaction are unknown. What is known is that, once finished, the party immediately returned to their kingdom, unsure what to make of it. After others found out about it, there were likely several debates among individuals with political power, with some parties seeing the Watcher as a god, and others becoming wary of its intentions. In some areas, fortifications were being rapidly built, on the off chance the Watcher would attack.
This event is significant as it is one of the only detailed records of Cave Stalker history, meanwhile the rest is rather vague, and only detailed enough to get a basic idea of what happened.
