A-7 'Skinny' Series Personnel Droid
The A-7 Series Personnel Droid, often known as the 'Skinny' is a general purpose humanoid robot designed by Cybersynth Robotics that is being used in a wide range of roles across the galaxy, from starship crews, to combat units, to labor groups. It is remarkably cheap, easy to store, and relatively versatile for its price, making it a highly sought after model of robot. The A-7series is one of the most common robots in the world, being nearly ubiquitous in most areas of Civilized Space where Cybersynth's main competitors aren't operating.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The A-7 series is a small humanoid robot built with an eye towards generalized personnel replacement. It has a roughly human shape with two arms, two legs, and a head centered around a torso in the center. It is built relatively cheaply, using easy to source components and designed for mass assembly, mass purchasing, and mass deployment. It's chassis is lightly armored, but it is not especially robust. The A-7 Series robots have a handful of excess slots that on the stock model is used as a generalized storage space, but can be modified to carry specific tools instead. Controlling the robot is an Advanced brain that is moderately capable, with some ability to operate independently, however, the A-7 also has a satellite uplink which is used to both power the droid, but also allow remote control if more creative thought is necessary. A-7 series robots are designed to fold up when not in service, allowing many more of them to be stored than otherwise would be normal, and allows mass transport of these robots.
Manufacturing process
A-7 Series robots are manufactured in almost every major Cybersynth facility in the galaxy. Most of their core components can be printed in a fabricator, and indeed there is an entire fabrication complex that mass produces chassis components for the A-7 series, not counting facilities that produce additional spare parts. Its brain is also technically simple enough that some Cybersynth facilities can fabricate brains as well. Final assembly must be carried out traditionally, and most versions of the A-7 series are programmed to give them some basic skills which is likewise done via traditional means (many however are "stock" A-7s that come with no pre-programming for greater flexibility).
