A-20 'Bosun' Series Advanced Crew Droid
The A-20 “Bosun” Series is a family of closely related android models produced primarily by Cybersynth Robotics. Designed as a more advanced evolution of earlier Cybersynth crew replacement robots, the base A-20 series provides a wide range of shipboard skills with some amount of additional bandwidth and slots that can be used to customize an individual bot to the needs of each ship, all in one of the few genuine androids produced by Cybersynth. Variants of the A-20 series typically fill these slots with pre-selected options to better fill a specific niche within the A-20’s broad basic skillset. The A-20 series is one of Cybersynth’s only true android chassis lines, which is sought after by those looking for a more natural looking robot to crew their vessels for them.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Every single A-20 series robot is a relatively advanced android, with powerful sensors, environmental protection, and a Very Advanced robotic brain wrapped in a synthetic skin that is generally fairly convincing to most casual scrutiny. The A-20 has a wireless datalink allowing for communications with crewmates akin to most mobile comms, though it lacks any sort of drone interface in order to ensure the integrity of security against routine hacking threats. Though the baseline A-20 series lacks any personal combat ability, its robust and dextrous manipulators can be paired with programming and equipped weapons to make it a viable combat threat in addition to its broad range of ship skills.
Manufacturing process
The A-20 series, due to the greater expense and higher tech manufacturing is a more limited run design. Though it many of its component parts are produced in the fabrication facilities of Cybersynth Robotics, the A-20 series is only manufactured at Cybersynth’s Maputo facility located in the Zambezi System. A-20 series robots are typically machine assembled with parts sourced from fabrication chambers, though the brain must be produced via more traditional manufacturing methods.
