Zalmir
Zalmir was known as Atmos, The Great Father once.
Most Alpha vampires will tell you that they agree with the elves' version of The Awakening. It is the events leading up to the The Divide that they disagree with.
After the Awakening, where the 8 different elemental realms where created, all of the realms received the help of the gods to learn and develop. Dryara, however, favourited the Light Kin and gave them special guardians called Lumunians to tend to the land and protect the inhabitants.. The other realms didn't receive this special attention from the Great Mother, and yet, the shadow realm developed at a rate equal to the Light realm. Both realms managed to take control of their chaotic nature, and even started producting races that were not tied as strongly tied to their elemental nature, the elves. This was when Atmos realised the true potential of the shadow realm people and developed a great respect for their ambition, prospering even when they were not coddled by a god.
As a test Dryara and Atmos tasked Vonlo to gave them the gift of magic, the magic to control the other elements. Drayara did not want these two realms to use each other's elemental magic, though, as she feared that it would cause friction between the two realms and create an unbalance that would result in the chaos of the first world. Atmos agreed that the past must not repeat itself.
With this new addition of magic, Drayara spent even more of her attention guiding her beloved Light realm followers and didn't turn her gaze often to focus on Atmos anymore. Atmos grew lonely and decided to claim the shadow realm he respected as his own to occupy his time. The more time he spend observing his realm, the more he realised that it has not been treated fairly. The shadow realm didn't have special protectors like the Lumunians of the Light realm. The shadow realm didn't have such a variety of creatures as the ones that were gifted to Light realm by the Great Mother. An anger started to build in Atmos. Yes, he could also gift his realm creatures and protectors, but he didn't want the other gods to think of him what he already thought of Dryara. He didn't want them to feel like all his attention was focused on creating creatures for but one realm of the 8. After some thought, he realised that it would only be fair for the Light realm to share their abundance, since the shadow realm was equally as successful, they deserved to share the rewards.
As the the Shadow and Light realms displayed excellent talent in the usage of magic that they were gifted, the other realms had reached a point of development where they could function within their chaotic natures. Atmos suggested to Dryara that the Light and Shadow realms be opened for visitors, so they could learn magic and from the different ways the two realms have developed. She agreed and allowed the realms to be opened, strengthening her Lumunia ranks to maintain control.
The Great Father used this opportunity to invite some of the Lumunian troops into his realm and show them the wonders of the shadow element. He talked of his passion for his people and of the power and protection that they deserve because of their endurance and ambition. Atmos managed to convince these troops to stay and join his ranks.
Dryara was furious when she found out. She didn't want to share the power that she had given her people. It is told that all the realms shook from her rage over sharing the beautiful protectors she has created for her precious realm. Atmos knew her heart, however, and told her that the Shadow realm also needed protection as they were just as strong as the Light realm. He told her that it would be negligent to not also have the same precuations and she was calmed with this.
There was still one thing that bothered Atmos. He managed to secure protectors to tend to the realm and keep the people safe, but his people still needed his aid. The people from the shadow realm had a dark nature. He knew it wasn't their fault, but they were tied to a dark element and thus incidents were people got hurt were to be expected. Again, he thought it unfair that the other realms got to learn the healing magic from the Light realm people, and yet the Great Mother fears his realm's power so that she would see only his people suffer without healing magic.
Atmos went to Vonlo and asked for him to grant the people of the shadow realm the ability to use Light magic, like all the other realms. But before Vonlo could respond Drarona foresaw the conversation and intervened. She informed Drayara of what Atmos was trying to do and again the Great Mother was furious. Atmos again tried to calm her, telling her that that the Shadow realm people deserved to also know how to use healing magic to protect their families. But the Great Mother would have none of it, worried that this his realm would be too powerful if it had access to all the elements of magic. She placed a binding command upon Vonlo, prohibiting him from ever giving any Shadow touched control over Light magic. Vonlo had his magic restricted even though he had not even agreed to help Atmos yet, and held an anger in his heart because of it.
Atmos was furious at the unjust actions of Dryara. She had bound Vonlo unfairly and kept healing magic from his people for only a lack of faith in them. He distanced himself from the Great Mother for an Age, hiding in a part of the Shadow realm (known as the Heart's Void from then on) that he shut off from the rest of existance. During this time his loneliness grew. He tried to focus his efforts on his people as before but the grief of not getting them what they deserved isolated him even more.
The goddess Ghina was worried for this safety and managed to convince him to let her enter the Heart's Void. Atmos told her his thoughts on the situation and showed her the lives and the potential power of his people. He showed her their ambition and strength and she, too, gained a respect for them. The two gods watched the people for a long time and discussed their drive for success. Together, the two of them realised that the reason the shadow people have been so prosperous was that they demanded a place, they took what they wanted and worked towards their goals. They decided that they were going to do the same for their people. Atmos and Ghina fell in love in this time, and they created their children, the strongest race to ever exist in the realms. They taught their children the old ways, and the new, and told them that they were going to free the shadow realm people. The two created more races and creatures to aid them in their plan during this time.
At the end of the age, at the time of the unification festival, Atmos exited the Heart's Void with the goddess Ghina by his his side. He claimed a new name, Zalmir, god of shadows and death. He revealed that he had created a race that was better than all the others in existance. The vampires. With the realm borders still open, he laid siege upon the Light realm with his vampires and other beautiful creatures he had created in his absense. Four of the other gods (Gozena, Vonlo, Ghina and Ghanu) betrayed the other gods and joined forces with Zalmir.
What followed was an age of bloody war that shook all the realms. The children of Zalmir turned many of the Light realm races in their blood servants, beta versions of themselves, to bolster their numbers. Dryara became overwhelmed with the amount of soldiers that Zalmir sent in to claim what belonged to them and decided to shut the shadow people away from the gift of healing forever by placing a seal upon her realm against those that belong to the shadow element. The people from the realm of Zalmir felt a void in their hearts, as did Zalmir and the other gods. The Great Mother had denied them the magic that they considered to be 'good' because they assumed that they were not. They did never gave them a chance, and yet the other realms got it freely.
From then on, the Shadow realm was known as The Void, and the Light realm was known as Lumin.
Many ages have passed since The Divide, and most that were alive that day died of old age or were killed in the war. The vampire elders that survived still insist that the vampires are the god children of Zalmir and Ghina, destined to rule all. Although, to many younger generation vampires this story is one of those myths that were made up at one point but had been retold so many times people started thinking it was true.

For so he said: "IF THOSE WHO FEAR US TO ONLY HAVE BLACKENED VOIDS IN OUR HEARTS, WOULD CAST US INTO THE DARK, THEN WE SHALL PROVE THAT THIS VOID WILL SNUFF THE LIGHT OF THOSE WHO DEEM THEMSELVES TO BE ILLUMINATED."
