Five Elements Mutual Generation
Five Elements Mutual Generation (五行相生, Gogyōsōjō) is a collection of 5 spells that revolves around the Five Elements or Five Phases: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.
Five Elements Theory
The five elements (五行), or five phases, have two types of interactions with each other: mutual generation (where one element leads to the formation of the another) and mutual destruction (where one element opposes the another). These two types of interactions can be seen in the diagram, where the generative interactions form a circle and the destructive interactions form a pentacle. The collection of spells in Five Element Mutual Generation allows the user to amplify their spell using the result from the previous spell, whether it was casted by themselves, their allies, or their enemies.
The Five Spells
The five spells are:[a]
- Wood feeds Fire (木生火, mokushōka)
- Fire creates Earth (火生土, kashōtsuchi)
- Earth bears Metal (土生金, dochishōkin)
- Metal enriches Water (金生水, kinshōmizu)
- Water nourishes Wood (水生木, mizushōmoku)
Spell Mechanics
Effects
Conjures elemental spell, with added power if in the presence of the complementary element (wood → fire, fire → earth, earth → metal, metal → water, water → wood)
Manifestations
Magical energy is poured into the appropriate talisman, and when it is exposed to the correct complementary element, then the talisman will activate and the spell is casted.
Source
The spell draws on the caster's magical energy; however, if the spell is casted after a spell of complementary element had been casted, then the magical energy from the previous element will be added as well.
