Dragons

Large, majestic titan lizards with magic infused into their Hearts, dragons are incredible creatures to behold. Ancient and wise, their power is almost unmatched. However, they are not the terrible beasts you may think them to be. Indeed, they are quite the civilized, if rather nomadic, people. Dragons are often slow to trust, so it may prove quite a task to befriend one, but once a dragon knows you personally enough to deem you trustworthy, you become a friend for life. If you betray that trust, though, you're likely either never going to see them again, or you'll find yourself at the end of something sharp and/or magical.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragons usually have scaly, tough skin, four legs with sharp talons, two leathery wings, a tail, and horns in the head area. This is, of course, excepting BioDraki.

Biological Traits

Typically, male dragons are a bit broader, taller, and stronger than females, while they are generally longer, faster, and more skilled in the arts. Lifespan is unaffected by gender in dragons, but of course one's attitude toward life can often lead to some change in one's lifespan.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons lay eggs, which incubate for about 8 months before hatching. However, dragons do not often mate, partly because of a mutual agreement to never have more than two young, and partly because the process of incubation process is so grueling.

Growth Rate & Stages

A dragon often reaches maturity at around 110 years old, and can live for up to 5,000 years. On average, a dragon is considered elderly at around 3,500.

Ecology and Habitats

Each subspecies of dragon is capable of surviving in its home Verse, but in others, especially in some cases, they might have some difficulties.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dragons are omnivorous, though most tend toward more carnivorous diets.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Each verse has a certain way of selecting a representative for the council that meets yearly in the Hub, but otherwise has a unique government to the others. Below them is the average dragon, with no special rights, but with many different job opportunities. Below that is food. Granted, dragons are civilised, so they don't often eat living, thinking people, so they prey mostly on whatever they feel like. Overseeing all of this is the godlikes, who do not take a role in government as per agreement, but hold a strong influence over their respective subspecies, generally out of honor and respect.

Facial characteristics

The facial features of a dragon widely vary from each subspecies, but most have at least a snout, sharp teeth, and horns somewhere on their head.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The residence of a dragon varies among subspecies, but they often hold influence over a large area, both magically and territorially.

Average Intelligence

Dragons are highly intelligent, and are often honored as talented inventors, skilled tacticians, and other titles worthy of a plaque.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dragons have excellent sight and hearing due to their sharp eyes and keen ears. On top of that, they have an extraordinary sense of smell.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Dragons often name their young after elements of their home verse or traits of their behavior or body, often in their native language.

Major Organizations

There are five major governments among dragons, each with there own way of selecting a representative for the Hub Council, a five dragon group that gathers in the Centre-hub once a year on the first of Generation to discuss the coming year. There is the Pyron council of elders, the Duchy of the deep, the Empire of thunder, the Bion senate, and the Frozen Kingdom.

Beauty Ideals

Dragons do not restrict their preferences by the physical traits of others.

Gender Ideals

Male dragons are often known as powerful soldiers and fierce protectors, while females are commonly considered more skilled in the arts, magical and otherwise, and kind mothers.

Courtship Ideals

Dragons' mating traditions are varied, but males often protect the territory around their home while the females hunt for food early in the incubation process to gain weight to protect against anything stupid enough to try to steal a dragon egg. This is made possible by the initial hardness of the egg, which becomes more brittle as time goes on.

Relationship Ideals

Dragons do not commonly mate, but when they do, they mate for life. They share an extremely personal relationship, and often do not have young for quite some time.

Average Technological Level

Dragons often live simple lives, but have advanced technological skills. besides using their incredibly powerful magic in everyday life, dragons also have near-modern level technology and most have a very civilized lifestyle.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Most dragons in their youth often learn at least both the most commonly used language in the multiverse, Fracturian, and each subspecies' native languages, Soul, Sea, and Scorch.

Common Etiquette Rules

Dragons are similar in etiquette to a regular human. You know, don't talk with your mouth full, don't interrupt people, respect your elders, chew that bison before you swallow it.

Common Dress Code

Dragons don't wear garments often, but it has been witnessed on special occasions when well respected dragons would wear certain accessories as a sign of status.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

A dragon's culture is strongly inspired and encouraged by the godlike who created their race. For example, a fire-affiliated dragon would probably be strongly aligned with familial relations and old folklore.

Common Taboos

Many dragons are strongly against leaving one's mate for another. However, polyamory has become more common over the years, to the dispute of many.

History

Dragons were originally created by each of the Primordials in turn as guardians for the sources of their elements. After the Great Separation, the Alchemicals tried this with themselves as molds for their creation.

Historical Figures

Many dragons are perfectly fine with their lives the way they are, so there aren't very many world changing dragons through history, but there are those at the head of the draconic governments:

Common Myths and Legends

Each culture of dragons has its own group of myths, tales, and folklore, much like every people.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

On Majikai: They are often not worth the time it takes to get to know them, given their miniscule size and lifespan, but they seem to be quite dedicated to their endeavors. There is also their aptitude for magic, which is nothing to scoff at.
