McNally Tractor Oil
McNally Motors, while most commonly known for their motorcycles, has dealt in almost anything that uses a motor to propell itself. It became a necessity, after the Night of Falling Crowns when the traditional supply chain began to break down. As businesses and corporations began to close, desperate drivers, farmers and tradesman came to them from both Ruben and Lazuli seeking help for their mechanical contraptions.
And McNally, in the spirit of Ingenuity, responded as best he could. McNally scrounged for spare parts and every bit of scrap metal he could. And what he couldn't find, he made. McNally Tractor Oil was simply one of those many... inventions made in the name of necessity.
While the use of bio-based oils was not uncommon before the oil wells in the Plains were discovered, they were not as effective. They did, however, see a resurgence after the Night of Falling Crowns and the Great Oil Shortage. McNally pioneered a new refinery for corn oil, using run-off from a corn mill a short distance from the main garage. The resultant oil, while not as long-lasting or smooth as the traditional petroleum based oil, served its function as a lubricant and kept the tractors of Ruben and Lazuli moving in their very much needed years.
Even if they did leave the fields smelling like popcorn.

What's in the Oil?
Traditional Motor oil is made of crude oil, sourced from oil fields located in the northern reaches of the Plains lands. However, after the Night of Falling Crowns, all of the Plains countries collapsed, leaving the oil fields destitute or unable to get their black gold to the harbors to sail to the eastern Seaboard. Only one oil field remained in operation, and its refinery operated at a low capacity, sending its goods through the Walker's Canyon by donkey train when it was not Walker season. Good oil quickly became expensive and hard to come by. McNally was forced to improvised as the price of oil rose and its availability lessened. McNally turned to more... natural sources of oil. Specifically, corn oil. While the use of bio-based oils was not uncommon before the oil wells in the Plains were discovered, they were not as effective.
