Moonscorch

The moonscorch was brought to Tellus during the Cosmic Sundering, through the great power of the cosmic serpent when it incinerated the huge scores of land in the far north and south, now known as the moonscorch.
It is seen as the closest connection to the cosmic plane on Tellus, and as such, is thoroughly researched and explored by many nations, especially the Archiat Confederacy.
Appearance
The moonscorch is a highly un-inhabitable location for most, the acres and acres of grey, sandy particulate that covers the entire ground makes sure of that, as very few plants can even begin to grow there. The particulate, known as regolith, takes on a deep blu-ish hue when scattered in the atmosphere, making the sky permanently appear as a gradient of light to navy blue, as the only illumination comes from the ground, where large regolithic glass pillars emit pale, cold light, like spotlights into the empty sky.
The vague cosmic magic in the area is able to mysteriously part the mist, leading people to theorise that the glass, or even the regolith itself, has a form of sentience, able to observe the world and as such, part the mist.

Regolithic Glass
The large crystalline formations which are scattered all over the moonscorch bear magical properties unique on the tellurian plane. The glass is spawned in a sudden and volatile reaction between certain elements in the atmosphere, combined with a burst of cosmic energy which springs from the regolith; the sudden sproutings of glass are dangerous, as they release waves of energy which will corrupt the minds and bodies of those close to the reaction, which most commonly happens to wild animals, as there is technology capable of detecting these reactions shortly before they occur, used by anyone entering the moonscorch who knows about the dangers, and is vaguely intelligent.
