Altemen (all-tuh-men)

Short, thick. snake people, like dwarves with snake bodies instead of legs. Strong and honest. They love to run the Glittergreen Mine, they deal honestly.   Their culture is rich and stict. Formal. Very structured. Older men, once they reach the age of 40, let their hair grow out and wear it long. Before that they keep is short, flat-tops and buzz cuts. Young men and women work the mine, once they get older they move on to other things.   Only species that can stand extended periods of time in the Greenholt mountains of The Reaches. The Reaches are their traditional homeland.   They were created (gentic modification) by the Gods and their tails were a mistake. Merion were created at the same time and the two ae very closely related. Merion and Altemen have a blood fued due to a falling out over commerce relating to glittergreen. According to Altemen history, Merion used to deliver it by sea, then got greedy and wanted a bigger cut of the profits and started making contracts that cut out the Altemen. According to the Merion, the Altemen were the ones who got greedy and started shipping glittergreen overland and cutting out the Merion in viloation of their carefully negotiated, very strict contracts.
