The Journal of Séamus Ó Seabhacáin
The Journal of Séamus Ó Seabhacáin chronicles the experiences of a young apprentice navigator during a full transit of the Great Ring over the course of several years. Séamus Ó Seabhacáin, known as Séamí to his friends, undertook to keep a logbook of his first voyage around the Great Ring and recorded far more personal observation than is typically found in a ship's log. The book has gained some popularity among readers who enjoy travelogues, and many have followed along with young Séamí on his journey around the Ring.
He begins the journal on his first night aboard ship, while docked in the port of Dunárd on the island of Oileán Fiáin. His vessel is named the Luathán, meaning "Swift" in Amhrán, and he writes with excitement about learning the navigator's art on the voyage ahead. Séamí's previous experience at sea has been as a cabin boy and common sailor, but he is notably bright and has been taken under the wing of Sean Airgid, the ship's navigator, who has accepted the fourteen-year-old as an apprentice in his trade.

Author's Notes
This document will be a work in progress. I intend to write the entirety of Séamí's journal, one day at a time, for the foreseeable future, with the goal of giving a first person perspective on the many ports and islands in the Great Ring.
