Session 1

The Red Crew leaves the world of Eos aboard the Alacrity. The crew remininices on their initial crew assignment and their first time in the flight simulator.   Ambrose Davies is the lead engineer, Violot "V" Nuzumi is the pilot, Arion Mort is the lead communications expert and gunner, Kassa Jordani is the crew physician, and Martin is the captain.   In the flight simulation, the crew was trailed by two small ships. Initially, the crew tried to make contact with the ship and do evasive maneuvering, neither of which were successful. The ships attacked, and but the crew was able to fight them off with Arion's well placed sand thrower shots. The crew was congratualed on their success in the flight simulator.   Next, the crew received their first assignment. A strange signal had been detected from a star 30 light years away from the Hyperion system. The signal's signature seemed artificial, but Nova Commission scientists and engineers had not been able to decipher its meaning, if any. However, this seemed to be the best lead to find other humans, so the crew's mission is to investigate the origin of the signal. The Commission had sent some robotic probes to the system to gather more information, but they were lost.   Then, the crew said goodbye to their families and friends, and were off to the stars. The crew was introduced to their robotic helper, Atom, who is a VI that is capable of doing programming and repair tasks, and is also able to provide information on the ship, known human history, among other things.   The crew had no issues executing the spike drill into metadimensional space and navigating to the destination thanks to V's expert piloting. Upon arrival in star system M94-96, the crew was able to pinpoint the location of the signal to a rocky planet just on the edge of the habitability zone. The rocky planet has an extremely thick atmosphere that makes it impossible to view the surface from orbit. Upon investigation, there were no signs of artificial structures on the planet, but the crew was able to detect a small space station in orbit around the planet at an altitude of 7,500 miles. Additionally, they were able to pinpoint the location of one of the probes that had gone missing, and learned that it was currently 100 miles from its original destination.   The crew decided to go explore the space station. They tried to make contact with it, but got no response. After getting closer, they noticed catastrophic damage to the station, and weren't able to detect any active power sources. Ambrose and Arion boarded the space station in their vacc suits and attempted to restore power, but Ambrose determined that the damage was too extensive, and that would take quite a lot of time and resources to make the station operable again. They decided to split up and gather any useful tech and data drives. During Ambrose's search, he found the former occupants of the station, very much dead, but perfectly preserved. Martin instructed them to take a tissue sample from one of the dead people so they could date the remains. Arion decided to bring back a head for Kassa to analyze back on the ship. They also brought back some tech and data drives. Arion and Ambrose were able to build an adapter to link the space stations data drives to Atom, who was able to process the information. They learned that there was a research base on the surface of the planet, and were given its coordinates. The research base in only about 20 miles from the source of the signal. They also learned that the space station was operable from the years 2659 - 2665, and noted that 2665 was also the year the Scream took place.
