  Outcasts, seekers, revolutionaries, and strangers, Ascendants seek more from the world. They go where others can't or won't, seek what should remain hidden, and change what has become static. To the Ascendant, the Prosperity Engine has changed the world - now, it is their turn. Adventurers by heart, they exist beyond the bounds of even transformed society, often changing their forms far further and more experimentally than any mason or merchant would dare. Practically every Strain has been discovered by an Ascendant, pushing the boundries of what their mortal shells can be - and succeeded.   Although they can be both villain and hero, Ascendants are popular in fiction and media in the Engine. They are the revolutionary that purges an old, stagnant tyranny, that brings new discoveries, that vanquish terrible monsters and threats alike... And take down Ascendants who have turned their power to abuse others.   Ascendants come from every walk of life, and every part of the Prosperity Engine. To become one is as simple and hard as to make a choice, and leave safety behind. They commit themselves to seeking new horizons, whether by exploring the depths of the Prosperity Engine or the limits of their flesh within their laboratories. No matter whether they are warriors or scholars, the Ascendant at heart seek to discover more, to change more, to achieve more. Some are driven by idealism, spirituality, and greed, while others need no other reason than curiosity.   There's no entry exam, no laws or rules, no badge of honor to carry. Many Ascendant hold themselves to a loose code of conduct, and some will test others who claim their title with it, while others are just rogue and scoundrels.
