After escaping the quarantine zone beneath the Domes in subjective year 251, Patch-12 and her lover Wix Wixtaki gain the attention of one of Wurth Harkin's many roving android platforms. Realizing that, despite their great deeds, they will still be hunted for Patch-12's membership in The Defected, the couple agrees to upload themselves into the matrioshka. They arrive in subjective year 306 due to signal lag because of the fixed speed of light in the Origin Instance.
