The Fourth Annual Herolutions' Guild Games!

Far to the East of Inria, war-torn lands terrorize the country sides. The Skoacian Territories continue their own civil unrests, the 10 Centuries War continues to rage on, and the Gilded Coast has come under invasion.   In the year 3012, The Knight of the Black Sun (as they call themselves) set to land ships of steel and thunder cannons of iron to ravage and destroy the country side of the Gilded Coast and Greater Us'Nye. After a mere three hour siege of Andhar, even the goblins cried for mercy as men clad in armor and with hand-held cannons that shook the very earth pushed West into the countryside. With a successful magical rite, the mages, druids, scholars, knights, and any able-bodied person has held the advance of the Black Sun to the Us'Nye and Skoacian border. There is no telling how long the Black Sun can be held back with this tactic, but the Black Sun have made no more westward progress as of late.   SIX YEARS LATER...   It is late summer in Emeristan, an the Iothuan Khanate. A bustling town called Shawcross Hold holds it's fifth anniversary of Herolutions - The Adventurer's Guild being in operation with its Fourth Annual Guild Games! Many come to the Guild Games with their parties to prove their might and earn some coin. The best of the best teams will earn a spot in the Esteemed Heroes Board, a board famous for groups such as The Crimson Sisters, Bond of Guardians, and The Mythics to name a few. Legened has it that groups that enter their names on that board are called upon for the highest of quests, some even from other Nations in Inria!   The final day of this month long festival is the penultimate effort, winner-takes-all battle in the town arena, and you have yet to prove your worth. You have done everything in your power to keep up with the troupe, and as the first in the tournament - the low-tier bracket - you must summon all your strength to be part of the guild you have worked so hard to be part of. Getting your gear ready, you pace to the Blue Bird's Nest with an eye on the crowd, looking to see who among them may join you (or let you into their group)...

Hooks

The first game of the day being the low-tier bracket aims to warm-up the crowd with the combat abilities of individuals and teams. The solo squads have already gone ahead and taken their prizes - the first place winner, Fabien Milhaud the Gray, won this year's low-tier solo spot in Herolutions.    Up now is the low-tier squadron battle, where the current low-tier squadrons and one last-minute addition face-off for their spot in Herolutions. The following list is the low-tier squadrons in today's battle:   The Order of the Star The Dusk League Blood Shields Iron Templars Winter's Squires Fate Weavers Circle of Brass [Unknown Last Minute Entry]

Stakes

Taking a place in the Herolutions Guild   Winning the Tournament   Gaining favor of Legacy Heroes   Stopping an incoming invasion

Moral Quandaries

The games are a sparring type championship where squadrons gain points based on the following metrics:
  • Disarming of opponents
  • Strikes to the body, arms, legs
  • Opponent Knockout
  • Tactical Ability and Strategy
  • Improvisation
  • Cruel Tricks

The Order of the Star are too put together to be in the Low-Tier bracket, nor do their movements and stoic attitudes deter that thought from crossing an observant party's mind. This Order is a secret spy sent out by the Black Sun to gather intel of an incoming invasion to continue the war effort across the globe. The Order did not submit their weapons or consent to their spellcraft being hindered for safety reasons, and that is obvious when the first head rolls...

    Red Herrings

Each group outside of the Order of the Star looks just as dangerous and deceptive, though not as put together. They are basically groupings of heroes that are selfish of their own fame and fortune.

The Guild Games History   The Adventurer's Guild was created in 3013 at the imagination of Jean Maulenov, with the approval of Baron Rowena Shawcross. He created the Guild by sanctioning a month long festival of "people of all skills and professions" to put their skills to the test and become Questers of the Adventurer's Guild. These games have continued to happen every year and test newcomers and veterans in their diplomacy, survival, weapons, intelligence, and combat skill. Every year only a few individuals and teams have been granted the high honor of becoming Esteemed in the Guild, which allows them to take the highest of orders requested of the Guild, and only several more groups allowed to become members of the Guild. While it is true that any person can apply to the Guild year-round, the Guild Games are where adventurers, swords-for-hire, and diplomats gain notoriety among the commonfolk and gain promotions in the Guild.   Jean has no intentions of stopping the games any time soon, and has big plans for each large milestone celebration to come.
