Stormminer Skerry
Not just an exile from Draur Crait, Stormminer Skerry is named after the infamous dwarf Lord Stormminer, who took a large populace of Dwarves as his people to explore the Eastern Isles of Inria, where he found a skerry upon being shipwrecked due to a large storm. Taking refuge on this skerry just off the southeast coast of the Eastern continent, Stormminer abandoned his oath to the Draur Crait empire to become the sole King of Stormminer Skerry in 788. King Stormminer ordered the troops and common folk Dwarves to dismantle the ships and start fortifying their landing on the skerry. Naming the fortification Nen Tarur, after the old capital Tarur, King Stormminer ordered the full exploration of the skerry and its resources.
Much of the resources on the island include exotic fruits and wild animals, which the newly founded country decided to trade with the neighboring Strienia for metals and construction goods. After some 200 years of trade, Strienia had cut ties with Stormminer Skerry in favor of trade with Skoacia and Stayz Glon because Stormminer Skerry had nothing better to offer Strienia. Taking offense at this refusal, old King Stormminer, with his dying wish, ordered his troops to burn Strienia to the ground. Kicking off a long and brutal war, troops from Stormminer Skerry invaded the Bienmis Coast in 980. This war, called the 10 Centuries War, was thought to last that length of time, but due to shrewd tactics and guerilla warfare, the war has been raging on to this day and has since involved ships from both Stayz Glon and Skoacia in the war.
In 1236, Draur Crait sent a cease and desist order to Stormminer Skerry, in which a declaration of Emancipation and Independence was sent in return. Enraged, Draur Crait has set up an ongoing blockade of ships towards the Stormminer Skerry, hoping to run them dry of materials for war and survival. This blockade has so far proven unfruitful, but Draur Crait remains steadfast in removing traitorous dwarves from their race’s lineage.
Stormminer Skerry has not done much trading since the start of the 10 Centuries War but nonetheless has proven to be a self-sustaining, independent country outside of Draur Crait rule. It is common to see pirate ships of dwarves all throughout the seas of Inria, looking to look and destroy anyone that either opposes or is neutral towards the Skerry’s cause.
