The most recent Confluence, marked by bright blue comets burning through the sky and a reignition of ancient and modern magics alike

An event that happens once every few centuries, the amount of magic that rains onto the world revitalizes things, some ancient mechanisms are recharged, runes are made stronger, and magic users are strengthed.  A large group of burning comets streak towards the world at an angle. Usually they miss, but if they would hit the barriers put in place by the masked gods to protect the world from Outsiders will brilliantly flare to life and deflect them away. This has only happened twice before.
