Red Elf
The Shae'Thien, commonly known as Red Elves, of Yorland were the dominant people on those lands before the Hellenic Empire spread into them. Centuries later the pure-blooded Shae controlled a much smaller area, but the group had perhaps the largest known half-elven population in the world. In fact in modern times the human blood is so intermixed over generations, practically every Red Elf alive is in actuality a half-elf in D&D terms. (Not that they, or anyone else, ever uses that term to describe them. Socially, Red elves are called elves and treated as such. For stat purposes, nearly all are half-elves.) Despite the mingling with humans , the Shae kept more to the natural ways than the high elves , and were known as masters of druidic magic in the Midlands . But what they are known for even more is their mastery of song. Shae culture holds song as the highest form of art, and their singers have crafted hauntingly beautiful music that can bring joy, comfort, or even sadness to any heart. They long ago learned to mix magic into their song, and many believe they began the bardic magical tradition. Always ones to share their songs, the art spread out far from them.
The Shae are a naturally energetic and emotional people, given to raucous joyfulness, deep grief, and long-standing grudges. They are an accepting people, but proud, and losing their homeland has been hard on them. Many have formed their own neighborhoods in Addamian cities, and the Shae district in New Caliber is said to be the closest to the old world they've been able to come.
Appearance: Shae'Thien are a little shorter than most elves on average, and slightly stockier though not normally to human proportions, a mark of the human blood in them. They get their common name from the red hair they all possess, ranging from a bright fiery orange through to a dark auburn, as well as the pronounced freckles that most have. It's said (correctly) that any human with red hair likely has Shae blood within them. Their skin is normally light to pale, and their eyes are universally shades of green.
