Triton

 

Overview

  It did not take long after the discovery of the Maelstrom Isles! before a large Triton delegation from the Kingdom of Valantis arrived. Though they can be haughty and arrogant, they were welcomed gladly. Because they have a vested interest in the underwater ruins found around the islands, and not anything on the land itself, along with the fact that they have created no alliances, they have been chosen as the neutral party that keeps the other governments in line and from going to war with each other.   No one outside of certain circles knows what it is they are looking for in the underwater ruins, but many Tritons have come to explore them so it's assumed it's important to them. This is the most interaction other races have had with Tritons as they rarely come above the surface, and though they can act like they are better than everyone else, they are generally respected as diplomats and warriors.     You can find the Triton Stat Block here  

Appearance

• Tritons are slightly shorter than the average human, they average at about five feet tall
• Triton hair is sleek and flowy and comes in most blues and greens and black and white
• Triton skin is slick and smooth and is mostly shades of blue sometimes with some green tones
• Triton eyes are brightly colored and come in blue, green, purple, yellow, and gray
• Tritons have fins on their forearms and calves which give more controlled movement underwater, however above land they can make them lay flat to keep them out of the way and grant them the ability to wear pants and sleeves
• Tritons also have strange fin shaped ears that cover the gills on their necks
• Triton feet and hands are webbed for more efficient swimming, when on land they prefer sandals that are quick to remove in case they need to jump into the water

 

Homeland

Valantis is said to be a grand and spectacular kingdom underwater, however it is also suspected to be the last Triton kingdom left. Triton legends state that many years ago their forces were defeated time and time again and pushed back by the evil that lurks underwater. But when they reached the great city of Valantis the Tritons held their ground, and there they stood and fought until their enemies retreated. Over time Valantis has prospered and grown, but any attempt at taking back other Triton cities has ended in failure. The grandeur of Valantis is still a subject of pride to the Tritons.


 

Religion

The Triton worship three deities; the King of the Deep, The Judge of the Seas, and The Guide of the Tides.
