Children of the Void
A secret and utterly maddened cult that has taken root in the ruins of the empire. The cult of
The Shattered Sky does not worship Zhak'raa or its ruined currents. They believe that the Annihilation was a divine blessing, a glorious event that tore away the false sky to reveal a true, cosmic power in the
Void-Stars. Unlike the Archomancers who fought over a petty, worldly magic, the cult of The Shattered Sky seeks transcendence through unmaking. Their rituals involve gazing at the "Shattered Sky", believing the maddening radiance of the stars will purify their souls and allow them to transcend their physical forms. They can be found in high-altitude ruins or secluded observatories, their bodies wrapped in robes dyed a deep cosmic black and their faces hidden behind masks etched with star-maps. Their ultimate goal is to tear their Shattered Sky wider, unleashing a second, final Annihilation that will consume the world entirely, so that they might achieve a pure, formless existence among the stars.
Their rituals often involve
Stellar Derangement.
The Hollow Sky
“Do not fear the hollow vault, for it is not empty.
Within its silence are the mouths of the first hunger,
and they wait, patient as the dark.
We are but echoes made of marrow,
and the Hollow Sky remembers us better than we remember ourselves.
To look up is to be devoured,
yet to kneel is to be remade.”
