When the Tempest War ended in the Annihilation, the shield was exposed to the full, raw force of the magical collapse. It was permanently corrupted, transforming its surface into a perfectly smooth, mirror-like black material that reflects the oppressive twilight of the sky. Instead of just absorbing magic, the Onyx Aegis can now reflect it, turning the energy of spells back upon their casters.
