Bone Garb
Under the spiritualism of Veres in the kingdom of Eskarr, the Skadi believe that the bones of people and animals still carry some small part of the spirit of their former selves.
The bones, while not particularly strong themselves, may still contain a portion of the previous owner's strength, speed, will, intelligence, and so on. Skeletal remains of deceased family members or cherished pets are preserved and kept in a prominent location to honour and remember them. This is even taken as far as one carrying these bones with them on their travels, or wearing them into battle.
A gladiator in the arena may choose the skull or claws of a fierce beast to fasten to their armour, imbuing them with their strength and ferocity as they fight. A pilgrim might sew the foot bones of a friend they met in their travels into their boots, to help them walk far and long. A farmer with strong family connections could weave some of the bones of their father into their clothes, to watch over them while they work.
While this may appear a grim ritual to outsiders, in Eskarr it is one of the best ways to honour those that have died, remember the way they were in life and to harness some quality the remains' owners may choose to pass onto them.
Materials
Any bones may be used in any item of apparel or armour. Sometimes skulls and large bones are fastened with leather straps in a prominant location, other times the dozens of tiny bones in the hands or feet are woven into the fabric of the clothing. Occasionally, someone will make a suit that contains the full skeleton of a person or animal. This is considered to be extremely unnecessary and in poor taste, potentially even a desecration of the deceased's spirit.
