After escaping the duergar outpost Granital and parting ways with the Drow, the rest of the group continued on their journey. The deep gnome companion Bilden Oremolder told the group of his home Zanzarite, and thought that in return for their aid against the elders might know a route to the surface.   After coming across a cave infused with Faerzress, a Chuul attacked. While it proved a nasty foe, it was easily overcame by the group. In the next cavern a pair of dead duergar were infested with spores, and the walls were lined with some diseased fungus. Suddenly the floor seemed to give way, as if the entire room shifted downwards at a rapid rate. At the bottom, the group was greeted with a horrific sight.   The enormous cavern was covered in gigantic mushrooms and signs of rot, with enormous mushrooms making up the "floor" of the cavern. They pulsed and writhed as if a beating heart. The group scanned for an exit, as their path back was now blocked. Far in the distance an exit cavern was spotted along with a mysterious mushroom that seemed to have an entrance. The group decided to make a break for the exit, but upon arrival an enormous section of the wall began to materialize into an enormous foe, who shifted the floor in a tidal wave of mushy goop and almost caught the party before they dove into the exit tunnel.   After escaping the monstrosity, the group continued on towards their destination and arrived at a small farming outpost. It was seemingly infested with Shambling Mounds, and the group carefully observed their tendrils to navigate across the room.
