While her companions had repelled the dragon, secured the eternal flame of surtur and prepared to depart back to Storms Call, Shane found herself captured by the despicable Duergar who had fled into the underdark. While her current location was unknown, as she awoke she found herself in a prison surrounded by others who had also found themselves at the mercy of the slavers.
Neris, an Aasimar who joked that capture was all too familiar to her, had been attempting to free her friend Leia, an elf who claimed herself a succubus. Neris's cell companions were a pair of male drow who tried to put her at ease, they were guards for the magical matron who was imprisoned a few cells away. The drow claimed they were from Buiyrandyn, a settlement home to a splinter faction of drow who rejected Lolth's teachings and whose worship of Malunas of the Ever-changing Faces protects them from the demon queens wrath. Their matron was a powerful spellcaster who had specifically been giving some sort of strange magical bindings, and was even kept in a separate cell from the others.
Leia found herself in the company of a strange, shriveled and dry blue elf that had many webbed features, and seemed comatose. While Leia messed with her, she seemed unresponsive and the duergar seemed to not care. Shane recognized her as an elf from the Frigid Morass, going through a short development period of their lives where they are aquatic and require water. She likely would not survive long.
Shane, the human ranger from the surface, found herself in the company of a strange Flumph named Silifrey that was looking for her friend. To the south, a gold kobold who was The Finest Boy of the Bunch, was in a cell with a weird goblin who seemed to have a headache and strangely seemed to hunger for brains. Lastly the cells had a dwarf named Dregnul Gravelchief from the ancient hold of Burok Thorm and a variety of deep gnomes from Zanzarite. This settlement was not far from the current location, and had been under siege by something they called the Colossus of Pestilence.
The first day involved most of the group being brought through the caves to dig out a new structure. Here the group got to know each other a bit and discussed amongst themselves, trying to gauge their companions and their own ideas for escape. Their dwarven companion seemed surprised to learn there was a gold dragon in the region, and seemed a bit more optimistic of escape after learning this. Unfortunately the biggest problem facing the group was the water supply, the duergar were pouring something in it causing each of them to be slower than normal in an effort to prevent rebellion.

Back at the cells, after Neris annoyed the Duergar into leaving, Leia got lucky and managed to pick the cells lock with her tail. She brought the poor blue elf a few buckets of water and began to look around.
