14 - 05/05/25 : Breaking the Seal

The party entered the abandoned temple with the skeletal knight, Sir Garwin in tow. Hearing the sound of voices in the main entrance, the students considered stealth, but in the end, Snow made her presence and intentions known, beginning combat with the cultists. A swarm of lower ranked cultist surrounded Snow, but her defenses proved too strong for them to pierce, while she, Adeline, and Garwin picked them off. Meanwhile, Ezri and Nadya dueled the spellcasting cultists from afar. Eventually, the mages were able to defeat the entire band.   As the sounds of battle dimmed, they were replaced by a distant scream. The party followed the screams and discovered the noble who had been recently kidnapped being tortured by a Tanarukk demon. The party leapt into battle and defeated the Tanarukk. Snow easily tore the chains off of the noble and set him free. Before moving on, Nadya gathered up some of the chains, believing they might be of use in a binding ritual, and also came across a child's doll, giving the group more motivation to see this demon stopped.   While traversing the temple, Snow heard a voice in her mind and followed it to a well. The voiced turned out to belong to a will-o-wisp that attacked them, but was quickly dispatched. During the fight, Ezri also summoned Eo Nee in an attempt to parlay with the wisp, revealing her to Nadya who agreed to keep her mouth shut. She did note, however, that she already had inklings about Ezri's patron from some rumors she heard from her roommate, Xiuying. After the battle, Snow noted some loose dirt, and found the recently buried body of a priest, along with a potion of healing and scroll of spiritual weapon. Further in, the party found a desecrated temple, and the party took a few moment to clear it of the abyssal decor the cultists had placed in it.   Finally, the students found the ley line house in a shrine, as well as the barely contained form of the demon, Bogaroth. Bogaroth attempted to convince the party to contain them, offering them each the object of their desires. He offered Snow power, Adeline vengeance against those who killed her mother, and Ezri freedom from the Lantern King. But most of all, he attempted to convince Nadya to join him against the celestials that would use her for her bloodline. As she reached her breaking point, Nadya took a third option, freeing Bogaroth from his cage but restraining him in the chains she had taken.   With the demon released and held back, the party fought Bogaroth as Nadya maintained her hold on him. Eventually, they managed to defeat the weakened demon, but he vowed vengeance, reminding them that he would return to the Abyss and remember this slight. Nadya made one final attack, slamming him into the ground with the chains as he vanished. Satisfied with their victory, Sir Garwin returned to his grave. As he returned, Nadya revealed her final plan and showed the other the doll, which now entrapped the soul of Bogaroth, which she called Boggy, and was under her control.   Before leaving, the students attuned their items to the ley line, believing it might be useful if they needed its power for future improvements. They then returned to Queen's Ford and informed Hastra that Bogaroth was gone for good. With her duty fulfilled, Hastra considered traveling and possibly visiting Fortune's Crossing in the future. With their task done, the students used their scrolls to return to the school.
