08 - 03/14 : Lucky Rabbit's Foot
Upon returning to Fortune's Calling, the party was greeted by Sendra. She paid them for the completed mission but informed them that, unfortunately, Zelem hadn't set aside enough money for what he felt was appropriate for threat the party had encountered. As a bonus, he set aside some tokens at the Devil's Hand Casino for the party to enjoy a night of games, allowing them to take home whatever they were left with after playing a few rounds or possibly more winnings if they were lucky.
While the party was skeptical of this "bonus," they accepted and played all the games the casino had to offer. Draltha and Lady managed to make a bit extra from the provided tokens, while Yunaleth ended up with less than anticipated. Naomi, meanwhile, managed to gamble away not only her bonus but all of her savings, most of which were won by Chesterfield, who walked away with a small fortune. The party got a few rewards from the establishment's prize counter. Draltha bought herself a perpetual mayonnaise machine Alchemy Jug, Lady bought some new jewelry, and Chesterfield bought a Silver Raven Figurine of Wondrous Power and a mysterious egg.
At this point, Zelem called the party up to the High Rollers section to meet with him. The found him in a private room, finishing up a game of Devil's Hand with a few nobles, notably one Quinton Winstanley, who was bragging about his winning streak that night. In the final hand, Winstanley had an excellent hand and a horrible poker face, betting all his earnings, but somehow being beaten by Zelem in a not so surprising turn of fate. He then met with the party in the restaurant on the first floor, discussing the truth of Scarvosa's tomb. He was disturbed to learn of its connection to Kraken worshippers and was glad to hear that the runestone had been destroyed. He then relayed the next task for the party, which was simply handling some errands in Saltmarsh, so that the party could familiarize themselves with their closest ally city. They would go along with Sendra and Naomi, the latter of which would be a new permanent member of the team.
Once the party left, save for Naomi, Sendra dropped her altered form, taking the form of a young Changeling named Ophia. Zelem discussed their thoughts of the new party, now with Naomi's perspective and questioned the possible dangers of Kraken cult activity. Zelem decided to send a message to Ruven Torel, asking her to use her powers to look into the issue more thoroughly.
The party began making preparations for their trip to Saltmarsh, picking up a few potions and reuniting with Button and Vilya's hut. They found that Thwippleflit had also moved in with the apothecary, acting as her assistant in addition to the myconids. There was also a lack of myconid sprouts and Granpa Toadstool, as he was bringing some of the sprouts home from their time training to learn apothecary skills. Vilya informed the party that Button stayed behind and had an interest in learning from them full time. Yunaleth bought some new scrolls and copied them into her spellbook. Finally, Chesterfield's egg hatched into a baby griffon, who they named Omelet.
