The group follows the road to Mal Korvian, using sleep to resolve and argument and resolving an amush with ease. In Mal Korvian, a Baron Eligos escorts the group to Prince Valtaris' office. There is much to discuss.

Valtaris gives information on the Gala. Milo and Teagan talk to a priestess. Aiaoue and Cadence speak to an ambassador. Yenush and Arkiyn try to talk to the Count. At the gala, Teagan exchanges insults with Prince Nala. The hunt for the Book begins.

The group puts Tievel in the trash compactor and sticks him in the corner before summoning Tamasvi. Battered, bloody, and beaten, the group manages to weaken Tamasvi. Teagan, recognizing Tamasvi's guilt, leaves with a Void Shard.
