The High Dremoran Council

Within the Central Spire of the Tower Citadel at the heart of Eredet, the High Dremoran Council (HDC) – composed of 14 members – meets around a circular table to discuss all continent affairs, proposing and passing laws and legislation, easing tensions between regions, and seeking to advance their own individual agendas.

The Current High Dremoran Council

The HDC is meant to reflect the unique characteristics, ideals, interest, and positions of the 13 regions of Dremora. The "election" process for each seat varies according to the political structures and processes of each represented region. Certain members may be elected by the people directly or by a subgroup of representatives, while others may simply inherit the position. While all members share the goal of bettering and protecting the entire continent, their individual agendas and goals often lead to debate. And the downfall of any form of democracy... is that debate often takes time.

History of the Council

The development and formation of what is now the High Dremoran Council reflects the growth and development of a small religious community to the burgeoning city and center of commerce, knowledge, and culture that Eredet is today. Not only does the HDC represent the various regions of Dremora, but they represent their associated deity and the concept of unity, a tenet of The One.

The Council of Eredet

Before the HDC, there was the Council of Eredet. It was originally composed of just 5 members and was primarily responsible for overseeing all "mundane governmental affairs". It would serve as the governing body of Eredet from 1 YAR to 502 YAR.

Formation of the High Dremoran Council

n 502 YAR, the Council of Eredet – under pressure from the ever-growing, increasingly diverse population – unanimously decided to expand the governing body to include a representative from all regions of Dremora. With the growth of the city over the past 5 centuries, Eredet had become a melting pot of culture, trade, and ideas. The eyes of the continent were beginning to turn towards the city. Pressure to expand the Council came not only from within, but from outside.
The Original HDC included the Grand Priest (though informally). The original 12 members are preserved in the architecture of the Tower Citadel, which was constructed after the original council was formed.
  1. Ah'Shal – Emilio Ah'Vanni – Notable for: Organizing his business into the first "factory" of Ah'Shal.
  2. Caliban – Longwei the Red – Notable for: Overseeing the reorganization and reformation of the Eredet guard.
  3. Carmenthia – Bodhi Murigen – Notable for: Tripping and causing a minor epidemic.. that they immediately solved in the span of 3 days.
  4. Elios – Ma'Highne Myne – Notable for: Expanding the Élet Nature & Wildlife Sanctuary through his hunts.
  5. Judas – Behrooz Faust – Notable for: Standardizing the currency; having the worst luck at the oddest of times.

  7. Nacheevi – Sarlen Shatterview – Notable for: Berating everyone for their inability to follow her intricate plans; quality control for metal and leather production.
  8. Oshiv'Ran – Kizveni of Arnyek'Jaro – Notable for: Opening new trade lanes between Oshiv'Ran and Lark'Hal; shedding.
  9. Ragna – Orithyia the Unbroken – Notable for: Looking pretty; diffusing conflicts; unshakeable will.
  10. Tel'Rhea – Dámvadath'lene Carica – Notable for: Improved the quality of care for pregnant women; her fashion sense.

  12. Varoona – Yavanna Vyrn-Valdez – Notable for: Broadening and improving education for children and adolescents; throwing absolutely bonkers ragers.

Despite the growing interest from the rest of the continent, the original members of the HDC were generally chosen from those currently living in Eredet. Often, they were first generation immigrants who had lived most, or perhaps even all of their lives in Eredet, but had family members from or memories of the regions they represented. As the continent as a whole continued to grow, standardization of some facets of life, religion, and economy were desired... and Eredet was more than happy to provide the governing body to oversee such affairs. The HDC grew in power alongside the prestige of Eredet. As the various regions began to recognize the growing power and influence of the HDC, they began to send representatives from their political elite. It wasn't, however, until after the Dread King's War (~1035 YAR) that the HDC became THE governing body of Dremora
