Majordomo

The title of majordomo is not novel across Dremora; Royal and noble estates have employed majordomos to manage their households and interests for millenia. However, the term has been recently claimed by Parvathian and applied as an alternative title for his current High Priestess.

In the decades following the golden dragonborn's ascension, Parvathian's religious order was initially founded and led by his older brother, Xanthe. As his brother aged, duties and responsibilities fell upon Hithvessa, who began to manage both political and religious affairs on the Porcelain Prince's behalf. After his brother's passing, Hithvessa had assumed a role beyond a traditional High Priestess. As a god of domesticity and homes, the title of Majordomo appealed to Parvathian. For the City of Fortune and the broader region of Parvathi'Lahn were all Parvathian's home, the residents under his care. It is his Majordomo who he entrusts to speak on his behalf and to oversee all affairs of his household.

Appointment

The most recent of religious titles to be defined, there currently exists no formal process or spectacle for appointment. The first to hold the title (and the one currently holding the title) was chosen directly by Parvathian. As the City of Fortune – where the Majordomo presides – rebuilds and regrows, formal appointment may shift to democratic practices, though Parvathian himself will have substantial influence on those who qualify and on the final selection. As Parvathian is the god of presentation, there will certainly be a ceremony or other spectacle for all future appointments.

Responsibilities

A Majordomo's responsibilities tend to be religious, political, and charitable, including:
  1. Ensuring equitable restoration of the region and the City of Fortune. It is Parvathian's will that the glory and opportunity of Judas be either achieved or surpassed. This often involves overseeing the distribution of funds and attending meetings on Parvathian's behalf.
  2. Manage the immediate affairs of the House of Luck and ensure the doors remain open to any and all travelers. The Majordomo is to be the perfect embodiment of the benevolent neighbor. In Parvathian's absence, the Majordomo is empowered to hear worshipper petitions and must act in a harmonious manner with the god of fortune.
  3. Be the vision of what Parvathian extoles and ensure others are trained in that manner: well-spoken and well-honed.
  4. Honor valuables beyond gold. The Majordomo seeks to preserve those simpler things that cannot be so easily quantified by gold or otherwise assigned a value.
  5. Additional: Resolve religious disputes, facilitate relationships with other regions, plan cultural festivals, uphold the Day of Rest

Accoutrements & Equipment

Majordomo Hithvessa has defined the look of the Majordomo as she has held the position for decades. She is almost always wearing a purple Abla'kerályi of similar finery to the one worn by Parvathian himself. The purple hue identifies her of higher standing as the color is reserved for Parvathian and the Majordomo. Similar to the Ladies of Luck who came before, Hithvessa dons generous amounts of citrine, the divine gem of Parvathian, and gold jewelry. While a newer addition to her wardrobe, Hithvessa has recently taken to wearing a stiffened cowl of peacock feathers, another symbol of the god she serves.

While future Majordomos may alter the "uniform", the opulent presentation is expected to remain in all of Hithvessa's successors.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The first Majordomo currently still holds the title. Most expect Parvathian to uphold the traditions of his birthplace, Caliban, and have the title of Majordomo pass only upon death... or dire circumstances.

Equates to
High Priest or Priestess, the leader of a Dremoran deity's organized religion. Majordomo is a flavoring of such a title, similar to the High Oracle of Caliban or the Supreme Judge of Nacheevi. This collection of titles are often considered the religious equivalent of High Lord/High Lady, titles conferred to members of the High Dremoran Council.
