Preface

Wise's book is intended for use as an introduction for the student into the world of practical spell casting. It serves to describe not only known basic spells, but also the skills one must develop in order to delve into much more complicated rituals currently known to our field. The contents of this book originate from the musings and research of the wizard H.M. Wise, a prolific and widely respected figure in the field of magic during his time. These teachings include basic spell and ritual anatomy, words as casting, and, to quote Wise himself, "ways to do these things that aren't a complete waste of time and so totally kick ass". The historical development of majick throughout time and space is not within the scope of this book, as it is located in a different book that we have fed to a time dragon, who is writing said book. It is currently in the process of doing so, as the history is still being developed, and so to publish the book now would be leaving out too much, and, as we all know, to publish such a history in several parts is too much of a hassle. It is better to wait.    

Simple Rituals

To cast magic is to converse with the fabric reality, making and fulfilling a promise in hopes that the universe itself will extend its arm to aid you in turn. A ritual is a fulfillment. To advise a friend is to fulfill a promise of friendship. To eat is to fulfill a promise to hunger. We as a species have specifications for different kinds of everyday rituals depending on their use. If one is able to learn these specifications, they are able to fulfill, and thus they are able to cast magic.   These specifications can be easy to spot or more symbolic.
