Parish of X
Agenda
History
The Parish Of X, otherwise known as just "The Parish", was a cult organisation that is estimated to have operated from 1998-2003. (18-15 BH) It used the disguise of an alternative religion to lure victims, before steadily conditioning them to spread the word of the organisation and killing them in a ritual known as "ascension". It originated in France, mainly operating in the city of Poitiers. Other branches of the organisation have appeared internationally, in countries such as Slovakia, Russia, and the Netherlands. Some of these copycat branches presumably still operate. The Parish had first come to the attention of the authorities in 2000 (16 BH)when multiple reports of connected vandalism and arson came in. As a result of the global war on terror, the original cult is assumed to have dissolved by 2003. (15 BH) The organisation’s activities included the mandatory wearing of olive green robes and masks bearing the cult's logo. Servants had grey robes and inverted masks. Meetings were often spread out into different locations, with letters informing members of the coordinates one week before. The Parish was responsible for many crimes across the country, this was part of their “tasks” assigned by the Servants and X himself. These were carried out in order to “please X”. The cult’s ultimate goal was to “Ascend”; a process that involved cutting yourself off from all family and friends, completing a sufficient amount of tasks, being assigned to a small group of those who are “worthy”, having the uniform mask sewn to your face - this time without eye holes, but tiny ones for breathing - then being left in one of 10 side-by-side chambers and eventually dying of starvation or dehydration.Structure
X
The very top position, the central figure of the cult and the de facto leader. He communicated via Morse Code and telegrams. Very few, if any, had seen his face. He perished via self-immolation shortly before the original organisation's dissolution. The Ascended
They were highly regarded within the cult, this role was made up of those who fell victim to the ascension ritual and were killed. They were believed to have become "more than human" and "supernatural".The Servants
Acted as the Second In Command, keeping order among members, assigning tasks, and carrying out the ascensions, among other things. They were differentiated via a new uniform that exposes a scar, used for ID. The only way to become a servant was to sacrifice another human life in the name of X.The Followers
The common role among the cult. It was made up of those who were deep enough to know about its true nature. The Believers
Made up of those who had never progressed past the front of an Alternative Religion. Their only use for the cult was to either scam money from them or convert them into a follower. The Agnostiques
Regarded as the lowest of the low. This group was made up of former followers who had rebelled or unaffiliated persons who had spoken out against it. They were often punished or even executed. Their bodies were often left in public, at the height of the cult’s reign. They are thought of by the cult to be sent to a realm named “Cauchemar”, a sort of purgatory or hell where the subject would be stalked, hunted, and tortured by either manifestation of other members or demons for seemingly all eternity. Their memories would supposedly be erased regularly to ensure that they did not manage to escape.
