The Moonglyder Lorgnette
A delicate arcane instrument of silver, bone, and something far older than metal, the lorgnette appears harmless. Yet when raised to the eye, it reveals:
- the drifting streams of Arcane Miasma
- the pulsing web of Geneial life-essence
- the slumbering mass of Ingeniare substance
- the impossible shadows of Primal Miasma
History
The great mage Startex Moonglyder came upon a drift of Primal Miasma while investigating those spaces between the planes beter left uninvestigated. Mortals are not meant to work the stuff of the unshaped deep from which existence itself is carved. Mortals are not meant to touch it. Startex touched it anyway.
His own journals describe the result of him shaping the lorgnette:
- His eyes no longer perceive light, only the motion of miasma itself.
- His Geneial Miasma is partially unspooled, leaving his soul thin and strange.
- He has not slept in years, for dreams slip through the fissures in his essence.
- Spells near him behave unpredictably; objects subtly warp; living creatures shift in temperament under his gaze.
I beheld the foundation of the world and foundations are not meant to be walked upon.
