Primal Miasma
The Breath Before Creation.
That-Which-Was-Before-Things.
Primal Miasma is the raw, undifferentiated medium of unreality—the foundational essence from which EVERYTHING else originates: matter, life, magic, time, thought, and the other three miasmas. It is forbidden, dangerous, and maddening.
- Eldritch Beings wield it effortlessly.
- Gods fear it, for they know they are mortal and mutable.
- Mortals exposed to it break, mutate, or vanish.
- It has no structure, no pattern, and no known opposite.
- Its “desire” is to return to its original state, undoing the differentiated miasmas.
History
Startex Moonglyder is remembered—fearfully, reverently, or with pity—as the sole mortal known to have shaped Primal Miasma, the First Substance. His legacy is divided sharply between his brilliance and his catastrophic misjudgment.
Born with an insatiable curiosity for the foundation of reality, Startex dedicated his life to unraveling the architecture of the multiverse. His mastery of Arcane and Geneial principles was unmatched; he could read the echoes of creation like most scholars read ink on parchment. But such hunger for primordial truth has a way of attracting dangerous attention.
The Encounter with the First Miasma
While exploring the deep interstices between planes—those tenuous seams where the laws of creation fray—Startex encountered a drift of Primal Miasma. He understood immediately what it was.
He understood, too, that mortals were never meant to manipulate it.
And yet, against all wisdom, he reached for it.
Not to wield it in destruction or arrogance, but to see it. To understand.
His purpose seems benign in hindsight: he sought to craft an artifact that would allow its bearer to perceive miasma in all its forms—Arcane, Geneial, Ingeniare, and even Primal itself.
He succeeded.
"'Don't Look into things you wont like the answer to.' they said.
Absolutely, gods be damned, fucking right."
