Cleric Sphere - Chaos
The Chaos sphere embodies divine power unshackled from pattern, promise, or predictable consequence. Where other spheres operate within discernible laws—natural, moral, or metaphysical—Chaos rejects such architectures entirely. Its magic erupts rather than flows, reshapes rather than refines, and answers to impulse instead of intention. Clerics who draw upon this sphere do not so much command its power as court it, bargaining moment by moment with forces that delight in disobedience. Every casting is a wager, not upon success alone, but upon what kind of success the cosmos will permit.
Spells of the Chaos sphere are marked by volatility, mutation, inversion, and sudden transformation. Outcomes may be wildly effective, grotesquely skewed, or disturbingly poetic in their irony. Even when a spell achieves its apparent purpose, it often leaves behind ripples of unanticipated consequence—physical, spiritual, or cultural. For this reason, orderly priesthoods treat the Chaos sphere as metaphysically radioactive: potent, useful in extremis, yet incapable of safe containment. Only faiths that exalt entropy, upheaval, trickery, or apocalyptic renewal willingly grant their priests regular access to such magic.
Despite its reputation, the Chaos sphere is not inherently evil; it is simply indifferent to stability. In some theologies, it represents the divine mechanism of renewal through destruction—the wildfire that clears dead growth, the storm that breaks stagnant skies. Yet prolonged reliance upon chaotic magic exacts a psychological toll. Clerics steeped too deeply in this sphere often display frayed discipline, warped perception of causality, or a growing fascination with contradiction itself. To wield Chaos without being unmade by it is possible—but never guaranteed, and never without cost.

“Of the Chaos Sphere I will record only this: that it is the tantrum of the cosmos given liturgy, a petulant arithmetic in which cause and consequence are deliberately taught to miscount—and no sane god should entrust it to mortal hands."
