Tug
The Wall That Moves
Bouncer at The Salted Knot
“He doesn’t talk. He moves.”
Overview
Tug is the silent shadow of the Salted Knot—the half-orc bouncer who doesn’t say much, doesn’t start fights… and doesn’t lose them.
He speaks only in Orc and coin, and rarely uses more than a grunt, a nod, or a boot. But he sees everything. Start a brawl, spill a drink, or raise your voice at the wrong person, and Tug’s already behind you.
No one knows where he came from. No one asks. Some say he was once part of a mercenary company. Others say he once fought a troll barehanded and won by accident.
Personality & Behavior
- Quiet, observant, immovable
- Speaks only Orc or coin (he’ll take bribes, but not kindly)
- Has a clear personal code: No weapons drawn, no cowards hiding behind excuses
- Respects toughness, not loudness
Common Tavern Wisdom:
“Tug don’t throw first. But when he throws, you stay thrown.”
“He once removed three men from the bar without standing up.”
“Most players think he’s just part of the furniture. Most players are wrong.”
Player Hooks:
- Tug has an unspoken grudge against anyone with military insignia
- Might intervene silently in a player dispute... just by dragging someone away
- Accepts payments in coin or baked goods, but only if wrapped and warm
- Rumors say he’s guarding something hidden beneath the tavern, and Cala Brinebarrel trusts him more than family
