Tide Corrupted Slime

“It smells like brine, rot… and something trying to remember your name.”

Description

A black, oily substance found washing ashore on the island near The Graytower Beacon .

Its surface shimmers faintly with unnatural iridescence, and it clings like warm oil.
Local wildlife has begun using it—covering eggs, coating shells, changing.

Those touched by it… often change, too.

Immediate Effects

Unknown.
Even minor contact produces unease—some say voices linger in the silence afterward.

Mechanics

Also unknown. Exposure may trigger mutations, psychic impressions, or corruption over time.
DMs may choose to introduce custom effects depending on duration, creature type, or magical sensitivity.

Harvesting & Use

  • Can be scraped into a sealed container with gloves and patience
  • Prolonged exposure may contaminate tools or taint food
  • Requires 3 successful samples for potion crafting or magical study

Known Uses

Fizzwidget Bramblebark is offering payment for live samples.

“With enough of this stuff, I could whip up a rudimentary potion of water breathing.
Might grow a mouth eventually, though. You wouldn’t believe what I’ve seen.”

He's not wrong.

Player Hooks

  • Deliver slime to Fizz, sea elves, or a cultist survivor—each gives drastically different results
  • Track the source—is it rising from the deep, or dripping from something older?
  • Craft or sabotage with it—what happens if it’s used on purpose?
