Writer's Ramble - September 2025

So… I’m back. Took a bit of a summer break (sorry for vanishing), but I really needed to recharge the batteries. Trouble is, it seems the batteries are getting a bit old and don’t quite hold the same charge they used to. I’m still tired, still running on fumes — but oh well, onwards we go. Hopefully Freya isn’t too angry at me for disappearing; though judging by that glare from the doorway, I think I’ll be getting “the look” for a while yet.

Plans, or at Least Attempts at Them

Right now I’m in that odd place of bouncing between projects. One minute I’m tinkering with the Threadwalkers Handbook , the next I’m elbows-deep in rewriting the light novel because the style just wasn’t landing the way I wanted. So I tore it apart and started again (don’t panic, this version is already feeling closer to what I had in mind).

I’m also likely to add a few more entries to the Beyond The Loom section. Most recently I finished The Hollowdark — probably the darkest thing I’ve written yet. Suffocating, grim, absolutely not cheerful… but it needed to be written. Oddly enough, getting it out of my head and onto the page was kind of liberating.

Things That Happened While I Was Away

Turns out I came back to a surprise — my article Love Like a Natural Disaster was chosen as a prompt winner! That was a really nice thing to return to, and I just want to say thank you for that. It means a lot that people connected with it.

And while I’m here — a special thank you to those of you who read my work regularly and leave feedback. It really does mean a lot, and I love reading through your thoughts and reactions. Sorry if I don’t always manage to reply — life is hectic on my end — but know that I do see them, and they matter more than you realise.

Closing Thoughts

So yes — no grand masterplan, just me back at the desk, poking at Threads, running on dodgy batteries but still writing. Thank you, as always, for your support, for reading, and for reminding me this little Inn of mine is worth keeping its lanterns lit.

Things That Already Live Here!

This tiny gremlin is Ezme, also known as Princess.
Yes, she rules the Backroom.
Yes, she is older than she looks.
No, she doesn’t listen to me either.
Yes, she’s stricter than Freya.
No, you may not dethrone her.

“Your continued reading is more valuable than coin. However, the author assures me that Ko-Fi support assists in ‘keeping the kettle on.’ I am told this is a metaphor. I remain unconvinced.” — Seraphis Nightvale   Ko-Fi: #madmooncrow
