This series of encyclopedic books, titled The Lands of the Lion, has been written by many of the highest ranking Archivists of the larger Archivist Society as a gift toward High-King Leobert the Liberator and others of his line. These texts are meant to inform current and future lords, kings and others alike of the lands in which they reside and even those outside. That their rules may be prosperous and peaceful, and that the knowledge shared within this text may lead them to realise they are not alone in this world.   Proper credit to each of the writers can be found in appendix D20 at the end of the book.   - Head Archivist, Merlon Grimm. The Lands of the Lion, Preface
The Lands of the Lion, also known as the Lower Kingdoms by those outside of the region, is a large and mostly untamed part of the greater continent of Euros. These lands have stood united under the Pact of Tooth and Claw for just over fifty years, ever since they broke free from the Empire of Flowers the Empire of Flowers to their south, which had occupied the region for centuries.   As its independence is still young, many of the residents of this realm still hold conflicting beliefs concerning their former overlords. The major houses of the region have each styled themselves as Kings, ruling over their own regions, though the unity of the Pact is held together by a single "High-King" and his regional law-keeping force, known as the Lionguard.   The Lands of the Lion are isolated from the rest of the Euros continent by the large Dragonscale Mountains to its west and the Golden River to the south, a wide divide between the two landmasses spanning the entire continent.
