History
The History of the Dijaal is almost entirely unknown by the peoples within the Land of Ki. What can be said is only through the accounts of Human Narmean tribes who have the most contact with the secretive peoples (although limited). It seems that the myths or the Narmeans and ancient legends of the early Chemite peoples describe the Dijaal as an alien race originating from a land of fire separate from our material world. While this is probably myth, accounts of conflict between the two groups are well established as the Humans and the Dijaal battled for control over the few resources within the Wastes. It is also interesting to note that while these two groups may have shared the Southern Wastes with each other for potentially hundreds or even thousands of years, there was very little interaction with most being violent skirmishes between tribes. This continues to this day where the majority of interaction the people of Ki have with the Dijaal is through the stories of Narmeans who tell tales of encounters and battles deep in the wastes.
An interesting note in the story of the Dijaal though is the Sauhaba family. An extended family of Dijaal who due to reasons unknown migrated north to the border of the Kingdom of Kaldini in the early 4000s AE. As the Kingdoms trade was suffering due to routine raids on their caravans from Narmean nomads, The celestial Preist King of Kaldini offered lands and riches to the Sauhaba family in return for protection of their caravans. Experienced and Knowledgeable in desert warfare the Dijaal of the Sauhaba family greatly succeeded in their mission to protect the trade routes of Kaldini. Due to this the rulers of Kaldini effectively recognized them as a noble house. In present day the Sauhaba family is fully assimilated into Kaldini culture, speaking Akkardian as a first language and worshipping the Old Gods of Anki. They continue to be a family of great note within the kingdom owning a palace in the desert city of Paymurla and providing protection for caravans in an ever-growing unstable land.
It seems that the Dijaal have similar builds to that of Chemitic Humans who also originated from the southern wastes close to 2000 years ago.
The Dijaal are unique in their coloring as no other sapient species is known to have skin tones of red and orange. Even rarer there has been accounts of Dijaal colored like the desert itself.
