Red Peas and Rice

You've never had rice quite like this! Red peas and rice is Lurelin Village's signature side dish where they take plain, boring old rice and jazz it up with beans, palm fruit milk, and spices. A must have with their super spicy curry and a glass of banana rum for an authentic Farian meal.

Ingredients

1/4 cup of palm fruit oil   3 cloves of garlic, minced   1/2 onion, diced   1/2 tsp of Goron spice   1/2 tsp of Lurelin curry powder   2 cups of uncooked long grain rice   2 cups of red beans
1 sprig of fresh Hylian herb   1 3/4 cups of palm fruit milk   2 blue nightshade leaves   2 1/4 cups of chicken broth   1 Lurelin snapper   sea salt   ground black pepper

Directions

  1) Wash rice until water runs clear.   2) Heat the oil in a saucepan, then add onions, garlic, Hylian herb, and Lurelin snapper and saute for about a minute.   3) Add the rice and beans and stir for about 2 minutes, then add palm fruit milk, leaves, the spices, and 2 cups of the stock.   4) Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover pan with a lid.   5) Allow the rice to simmer while covered for 20 minutes until the rice is cooked, making sure to stir occasionally along the sides to prevent burning, and adding stock as needed. Add the salt and pepper and discard the leaves towards the end. Serve warm.

No one is quite sure why the Farians refer to what are clearly red beans as "peas", not even themselves.
