Galen's Oak

History

Mhankind first landed in 474, 2A, with The Sea Lion, carrying a motley crew of raiders. What they discovered was an entirely new land, ripe for the taking. Or so they thought. It wasn't long after, that Mhen began emigrating to the shores of Aÿshra in the hopes of any new beginning imaginable. When Cpt Galen and his crew first pulled ashore, they had coincidentally landed along the center coast of the Forest of Titans, a scantily wooded area, with mainly plains and plateaus. But on occasion, there would be towering over everything, one of the Titans, a rare breed of towering oaks that reach thousands of feet into the sky. These dying relics of what is considered by experts to be a previously much larger forest, one that spanned nearly all of northern Aÿshra.  They now sporadically stand in solace, their nearest neighbor miles away. At their massive trunks, a wild form of black rose grows, their vines growing within and out of the oak titans' incredibly dense bark.  Experts to this day have been unable to discover why this black rose variety can only be found on the trunks of the titans, and also, more incredibly, how these roses are able to pierce the incredibly thick bark as well!    Interesting sidenote, in the original accounts, the ship was still half a day's sail from the shoreline, when the sky turned dark. Looking up in amazement, Mhan came across their first experience with, the Titans.  The shade, it was discovered, was from the silent, green giant looking down on them from several leagues away. Today, in the fashion most often attached to those from the race of Mhen, that specific oak Titan is held in the highest esteem and warrants a special place in their history and culture to this very day.
