Theron's Tower

Theron's Tower is the ruined remains of the castle once forming the centre of the city-state of Kalida. It is named after its last king, Theron, who made a last stand in the castle during the War of Shadow, as the tower above the old keep is all that now peaks above the layer of clouds. This tower can still be seen on a clear day from the northern tips of the islands of Lugar and Nescio.   Theron's Tower was originally only a part of the great city-state of Kalida, gateway to the mountains. What is now called the tower is simply the part which can be seen from the mainland, the tower above the palace. The city stood atop a spire of rock, sheer cliff-face to one side, while the other was a more gentle climb, where most of the settlement lay. The plateau at the top contained the palace, temple and market. The reason the market was at the top of the cliff was that there was a great bridge, spanning the distance from Kalida to the nearby mountainside. There are no other routes within a days journey that can accomodate wagons or horses.
