Centaurs
Centauzrs have the lower body of horses and the upper body of humans. They live in a co-dependent society with the Simada in low-lying regions, which are often semi-flooded by the clouds when night falls. Low, naturally round hills serve as the permanent dwellings. The Centaurs are associated with the light of the stars.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Having only a single gender, centaurs do not reproduce in the same way as the other races. Instead of sexual reproduction, new centaurs are born from the remains of the dead. When a centaur dies, its body is taken to that tribe's starpool, where its consciousness is joined to the ancestors who dwell there. Once the soul has been assimilated, the body is broken down and reformed into new, younger centaurs. The average sized adult will produce 2-3 young centaurs.
Growth Rate & Stages
The young centaurs emerge from the starpool with upperhalves of similar size to a three-year old human, with the lower half bringing them up to the height of an adolescent human. They are thus immediately able to walk and hold themselves upright. Most grow slowly, reaching a fully-grown male human's height at 3-4 years, however they continue to grow throughout their lives, and most adult centaurs tower above the other races.
