Sigmar is believed to have been born -30 IC. His father was the legendary warrior-king, Bjorn Unberogen, son of Redmane Dregor, who purged the flesh-eating Scrianii from the lands of men in an age long gone.
The entire Known World was forever changed by Sigmar and the empire that he built.
The Battle of Black Fire Pass was a climactic, pivotal battle fought between the alliance of Men under King Sigmar of the Unberogen against the Enemy of Man. This battle marked the largest confrontation during the first millennium, and saw the formation of the Empire as the mighty Human realm.
After the Battle of Blackfire Pass, the Humans returned to their lands, but not to their old ways. All the tribal chiefs recognized that Humanity was safer united than divided and they knew that only one among them could truly make that unity a reality. Thus, at King's Crown one year after the Battle of Blackfire Pass, the Ulric, high priest of the Cult of Ulric, placed a crown of gold and ivory upon Sigmar's head and proclaimed him Emperor before the assembled representatives of the Human tribes. Before him knelt the tribal chiefs, who swore brotherhood to each other and fealty to Emperor Sigmar and the newborn Empire. This moment marks the start of the Imperial Calendar and occurred in the year 1 IC.
Fifty years after ascending the throne, Sigmar announced his abdication to the assembled Counts and the high priests of the various cults. "My work here is done, The Empire is prosperous and united, and in your good hands it will continue to be so. But I have work I must finish, a task left undone, and I must return Ghal Maraz to its maker." With that, the First Emperor placed his crown on a table, picked up a rucksack, shouldered Ghal Maraz, and walked out the door to an unknown final fate. Thus did Sigmar depart the lands of his Empire, to the bewilderment and grieving of his peers. To take his rightful place in the everlasting company of the Gods.
The Court of Counts finally disbanded and left to self-govern their people, thus destroying what Sigmar had fought to build.
All days since the disintegration of the Empire of Man fall under the nomenclature of Post the Empire's Fall.
In an attempt to continue to build trade, the Merchants' Council voted to build a massive inland dock and connect it to the sea with a massive canal to the coast.
The forces of Rothenhiem under Graf von Werder finally overcome the walls of Jailenburg in a culminating battle called the Tri-Gap Slaughter.
