Session Report 010: In Which the Heroes Travel Through Time and Space
Wherein Exposition Occurs
The heroes have promised to
keep the Constable happy with proper bribes taxes and trick him into thinking he's magical as he activated the Wand of Wonder which then gets shunted into the Ethereal Plane.
The heroes also
make a deal with the proprietors of The Cage Tavern & Inn and will restock its supply of exotic trophies that once lined its walls: the most pressing of which is a taxidermized dire owlbear head.
Eldritch beings twist the mind and tire it with a constant deluge of cacophony until it finally breaks... Though the heroes survived their encounter with the swamp Aboleth they take some required time to rest and hone their abilities.
- Fox, the - contemplates why dragons call to him. Deep within his soul he knows there is a greater connection. Visions show him speaking to an Elder Wyrm talking of an ancient dragon temple holding the secret to assume his true form. Ancient stories or mere dreams?
- Erky - Continues helping those less fortunate and teaches them how to survive in a cruel and uncaring world. Orphans are taught the ways of the Rogue.
- Gru - Built his fight club with multiple ziplines able to be used as dramatic entrances.
- Mattias - Honed his connection with nature around the town. Trained in a new monk weapon: Whip. Works as a normal whip but allows him to use his monk unarmed damage die and on a hit can make a Grapple attempt on a successful hit.
- Yawndell - Brawn or brains? Yawndell focuses on both in his attempt to buck the stereotype that you can only have one!
With
Cagoth-ze found missing from his cell, the heroes explore his Arcane Scriptorium for clues of his whereabouts but turn up little. Instead, the Time Construct whips them through the ages, showing them the future Scriptorium in varying ages of decay and rebirth. In one final time shift they end up in the future where the Scriptorium had been sent for safe-keeping! The clockwork servants quickly gather up books to return with to the present to be copied.
Before you lies the the scriptorium in its grandest of days! Not collapsed, nor overtaken by robots, nor collapsed into the Under Realms, nor fallen into the Land of the Undead and under the demesne of intelligent Vampires, nor collapsed to rubble by the ravages of times, nor the sky consumed in green flame.
Here the beauty of the elven library lies plain to bare, a spread of delicate foods and fresh wine upon silk draped tables. A glance down at an open tome sucks them into its very pages and teleports the party through time and space.
With a thump, the heroes land on a bed of powdery snow surrounded by mountains with naught but a small town nestled in the pass. Not all seems right as it appears the city is nearly collapsed with many buildings smoldering in the cold...
