Session 005: In Which the Heroes Contemplate the Price Paid for Success
Wherein Exposition Occurs
That most Dangerous Duo, Mathias and Janzuroth team up to punch and bite at a literal portal to hell. In a scene ripped straight from a Hollywood movie, the duo is dangled precariously above molten hot magma and must finish their mission before time runs out. Powerful runes bind the Material Plane to the Seven Hells. One by one our heroes destroy the magic runes and close the demonic gate, saving the world from the Hellish Army. Beginning the process of healing, Tova surveys the remains of the castle and assumes control of the Crossroads Company. A hole left in her heart from her lost lover, she must continue on for the good of the Company and those that depend on her. Yawndell says his final goodbye, confident in his choice to leave the Company and forge his own path forward. Retired from his old mercenary life he contemplates his future and the difficult transition that lies ahead. Fresh snow crunches beneath his feet. Time and nature continue on. Where does Yawndell's future go? Prior to the Generals death, the demonic pathway seeped fell energy around the castle causing discord not just between the now dead Captains, but among the local wolf population. They were twisted into becoming dire wolves who ate the sled dogs that brought the heroes up the mountain. With only a sled, the heroes tie up everything they can and survey their descent. Nobody wants to take responsibility for driving the sled so straws are drawn leaving Mathias as the driver! The ride down is fast and furious, but in no copyright-infringeable way. The heroes continue to artfully skirt international copyright law and bite their thumbs at INTERPOL does any American really care about this group? Why do they get so much attention? The ride down the mountain slope goes well at first but Mathias loses control at the landing and crashes into the small town's only inn. This undue economic stress could ruin him and destroy his family! It's okay though! Fox, the used to be a carpenter and helps fix it up leaving it better than it was before (though with some graffiti scratched under the tables, letting future patrons know that the Ghost Punchers were indeed there at some particular point in time). Fox, the showed up to the party late, having some business with...other business entities. His payment was a flame-marked wooden chip engraved with a skull. With only a thought the chip disappears and provides the assistance asked for, creating a shadow-marked horse and cart used to carry the heroes back to Redtower. Finally home, the heroes reestablish themselves and set about their individual goals while remembering those they have lost along the way: Thomdeyr Carrel - hired Wizard and Krognar Longbeard - dwarven priest.Wherein Highlights of the Day Get Written and Codified Into Canon
