Silkpass

A beautiful city in south-western Symarr. It is famed for its brilliant culture and is known for being a great hub of music, art, smithing and other forms of creativity. In the three decades, it has begun to generate many wizardly scholars as the arcane academy: Featherwood School of Mystic Arts has been founded within city walls and already has seen some noticeable mages crop up from its ranks. Overall, when it comes to creation this city has become a point of interest to any up-and-coming maker.

Demographics

In Symarr, humans are a most populous race so, with a few exceptions, most major cities have a majority human population. With the city being so famed for its curation of all arts no wonder the race known for taking up any and all roles would thrive in the area. The free spirit elves of Silkpass are often seen as painters, musicians, bards working jobs of the expression arts while the hardy and focused dwarves work as masons and smiths, crafting great works of art built to last in their own right.

Industry & Trade

It's name comes from the very profitable Silk trade routes that pass through here. Many routes that cross between Drakenstalk Mountains have to pass through here to get either to other areas of Symarr or to reach the capital. Therefore, heavy tolls are stationed here to ensure regular income for the city from the flow of merchants coming in and out of the city. Also these merchants are often trading their fine silks to the people of Silkpass, which is why many of the residents dress so casually in fine silken garb.

Districts

The districts of Silkpass are split between the main god worship in the particular area of the city. This also heavily influences the professions of people and wealth in that area. Some of the areas of the city are inside the inner walls while others are more exposed, those in the inner walls are much more protected and have more expensive houses.
Gravelside District
An outerside district to the north, the Gravelside is where the humble farmers live - with their farmhouses near their fields of crops and barns. Most people here are kind, hard-working folk who try to help out the others in their community. Being the most rural and rustic district in the city, where lot's of the residents rely on farming for food and work, Livia is a common deity worshipped in this part of the city.
Versailles District
Another outerside district to the south of the walls this district is most prominent for its arena in the middle, named the Summit of Champions. Power, glory, and victory are ideals that the people here strive for. This district also features the most dense population of dwarves. Aside from athletes and combatants at the Summit, there are lots of blacksmith given the high amount of dwarves and their surplus of minerals they have. Being a district of battle and glory the god of champions, Marx is highly revered here with his symbol displayed all over the Summit of Champions which acts as a temple to the God.
Parchment District
Named so for its heavy amount of paper trade, in the inner walls this area is filled with bards writing their prose; wizards noting new and interesting spells; and artists sculpting and painting. The people here are often very well off before moving to this district, either as successful artists or recently graduated wizards. A big attraction in this district is the Wizard academy which has brought in many more people in the recent decades.
Reign District
The area fit mostly for tourists and travellers, taverns and inns are much more common in this district and the general marketplace. Being a district mainly for travellers, especially adventurers, specialist stores are found here that get lots of traction from outsiders - places like the Silver Apothecary and the Crackling Pot Weapon Shop don't get too much attention from Silkwalkers but to the adventurers where the rare and interesting is highly appreciated, these shops are a commodity.

Natural Resources

During the dark age of old, after the Raptures, the dwarves in the Drakenstalk Mountains and other nearby areas focused heavily on mining. For centuries, they burrowed through the ground and collected much of the ore and minerals to expand and improve their subterranean citadels. While this greatly helped out their lives, the humans still living on the surface struggled to improve their equipment as much of the area near to them had been swept through by the dwarves.   As such, very little mineral is found in the surrounding area leading to the heavy importance of culture in Silkpass. But as the dwarves have begun to emerge from their citadels they have brought their minerals and ore with them, allowing for steelwork to makes it way to Silkpass and advance like a regular city.
