Solonic Empire

Structure

The Solonic Empire is the territory controlled by the Holy Servants of Solon. It is a theocracy ruled by a single emperor.

Culture

Solonic people are very religious and follow the letter of their holy book, the Book of the Sea Snake, very exactly. They tend to be intolerant of other religions, in particular the Brea worship of the Great Forest. Solonic culture emphasies hierarchy, and priests are seen as having a divine right to rule. They value tradition and order, as well as power through both knowledge and force. Women are seen as subordinate to me, the poor are subordinate to the wealthy and all people are subordinate to the priestly class- this hierarchy is seen as necessary to maintain order and control over a large territory, and it is believed that their superiority in battle is because of their discipline and strict adherence to their faith.

Slavery is legal in the Solonic Empire, with it's Western and Southern ports bustling with slaves and goods of all kinds from abroad. In particular, the Empire has an alliance with the Samen people from the Opal Empire and the Red Coast, with free trade of goods and slaves.

Magic is viewed as a dangerous weapon, and it is believed that The Humbling of Humanity happened because of humanity's misuse of this power. In order to appease Solon, magic is only wielded by the priestly class in service to their God- which includes maintaining order in the population. It is considered very dangerous to allow the uneducated, ungodly or women to use magic.

Public Agenda

Openly expansionist, the Solonic Empire believe they are a more advanced and superior culture and seek to take land and spread their religion wherever they can.
