The Hawlian Divide

In order to travel from Center City to Shabat, one must pass through the Hawlian Divide, a massive canyon separating Shabat from the mainland. It is a highly dangerous land full of monsters. Descending into it and getting out on the other side usually takes about 20 hours of traveling.

The party will likely have 1 encounter with some kind of unnatural monster during the day.

When they try to settle in for the night, they will look around and see some scary looking monsters out and about, knowing that they likely won't be able to get through the night. The mouth of a cave can be seen nearby. It may be a safer place to rest. (IT'S A RUIN BELONGING TO AN ANCIENT PEOPLE. UNHAPPY SPIRITS WILL BE INSIDE! We'll say they were Dragonborns that worshipped the dragons and tried to be like them.)

  • DARKNESS. Cave mouth, a textured red sand brick wall can be seen before you. Tripwire in the doorway (DC 15 perception). The first person to trip it gets hit with a poison arrow. 1d8 + 3 piercing, poisoned for 1 minute.
  • In the first room, there are a bunch of spirit enemies (4 Donaar Blit'zens, but we'll just call them paladin dragonborns. They are ghosts. They are resistant to physical damage and weak to magic damage.). They immediately yell something like "Leave our home! Trespasser!" and if the party does not immediately turn around and leave (or convince them), they attack.
  • In the next room, there is a puzzle. Not sure what the puzzle will be yet, but the solution will be cleaning a dirty statue. Probably a statue belonging to the leader of their people, or Tiamat.
  • Pressure plate trap in the hallway, leading to a poisonous gas filling the hall. It disperses in 1 minute. Anyone who inhales it takes 3d6 poison damage and is poisoned for 1 minute.
  • NEXT IMAGE TOO BIG :(
