The Magocracy

It is said on a night long ago a mage sat in the study of his home overlooking the sea. He craved a world where he was more, something greater than what he was and the sea answered him. The waves called his name and told him of his task, promising him his heart desire. He followed the seas wishes traveling to the home of another mage but one far weaker than he. He rapt upon his fellow mages door and called out "join me! we work together or you die!" Unsurprisingly this mage was outraged by the ambitious mans threats and went out to face him not join him. The man was struck down and the ambitious man cried out to the sea, "why have you lied to me? Your promises are hollow, you're plan did not work! What am I to do now!" And once again the waves called out to him whispering into his ear of what he must do.   So the man sat out to do his grisly work and hung his victim from his roof for all to see and set out home. The following night he went out again to another mage's home and rapt upon the door calling out his demand again. This mage having heard of his colleges murder and fearing for his life agreed to the ambitious mans demand. And that is how it went, a man and his followers going from mage to mage threatening and collecting spell casters. With time it was eventually unnecessary to seek others out for they now came to them. Though the endeavor began foul no one could argue of its benefit. Dozens of mages from all different walks of life pooled their knowledge and experience.   When a simple society was not enough the ambitious man turned his followers now quite loyal to his cause against the world. They subjugated everything that came before them and brutally put down dissenters. In only a century the Magocracy as they now called themselves had dominated most of the continent. When all was said and done they named their leader the Sorcerer King and all bowed before his might and fury.
